Tattoos with lots of color can seem difficult to remove, because they take longer to remove with laser. This can be a deterrent for people who have large pieces that they want to remove, but all is not lost. If you go to a studio that is knowledgeable and has current
laser technology, you can rest assured that your tattoo will be removed in the shortest possible time with the best possible outcome. This article goes over the reasons why some people refrain from laser tattoo removal, and why it is in your best interest to do so if you really hate your ink.
Although tattoos have become more socially acceptable in recent years, many people are having them removed, a process that is not as extensive or painful as one might think.
As anyone who keeps up with pop culture knows, tattoos are extremely popular. According to a 2013 Pew Research Center study, four in 10 people ages 18 to 29 have tattoos and, according to a 2012 Harris poll, about 15 percent of people with tattoos regret getting them.
“People get tattoos removed for many reasons: They have an ex-partner’s name, an ugly tattoo that is no longer wanted or because they outgrew the tattoo they received when they were 18,” said Marc Bennett, co-owner with Rich Metteer of San Diego Laser Removal.
Some people are turning to tattoo removal creams that are widely available online, according to the Mayo Clinic. However, there is no evidence that they work. “At best, tattoo removal cream might fade or lighten a tattoo,” the clinic says, but “the tattoo will remain visible ... and skin irritation and other reactions are possible.”
The process of laser removal involves breaking up the tattoo pigment into smaller sections.
