Does the 30 is the New 20 Rule Apply to Tattoos?

Tattoos are usually associated with a certain level of coolness and individuality. So what about tattoos in your 30s, 40s and 50s? Are they equally accepted among the middle aged generation? How would you feel about your parents or aunts and uncles getting a tattoo? Would it be a different reaction to your little brother's first tattoo? Paula Mangin allows us into her journey of deciding were right for her or not.
I am very conflicted about the tattoo. Because I'm a fashion and corporate rebel, many are surprised there's not some ink lurking under my R13 Jeans. But the fact is I don't have a tattoo, or multiple piercings (only one hole in each ear, empty, stretched out from those huge hoops of the '80s) or anything permanent, involving needles. 2014-05-01-BLONDEVERONICA.jpg Oddly enough, Jslow is also sans tattoos. I asked her why. "I knew my tastes would change and I couldn't figure out the one thing I'd want to live with forever."

Where Should I Put My First Tattoo?

There are many considerations when preparing to dive head first into your first tattoo. Design, placement, size, color and style are all huge factors in your novice tattoo experience. We've gathered a few tips on how to survive your first ink print. Think through these advisory points on placement and maintenance before committing to your first official tattoo.
Most people, and especially people new to tattoos, should avoid getting tattoos, on their hands, neck, or head and face. In fact, most shops will refuse to do the work unless it is obvious you are already ‘in the tattoo game'.The artist knows the possible negative reaction people may have to tattoos, and placing them in a highly visible spot only increases the possibility. The other concern with getting a hand or foot tattoo is the wear and contact that these areas of your body endure. For example, if you work with your hands, that would make a hand tattoo a poor choice. The tattoo will get distorted and would also be highly noticeable. For your feet, make sure you can commit to proper healing processes; eg. a 2-3 month process of being barefoot as much as possible and truly pampering your skin. 10. Talk with your artist about proper tattoo aftercare. Generally you should keep the tattoo bandaged overnight. Then, gently wash the area the next day. Do not scratch or rub your new tattoo. Once healed, you must use sun protection as much as possible, as the UV light will fade the colors. (This is another important consideration when determining the location of your tattoo.)

First Tattoos are Rarely the Last

Billy and Wilson visited our tattoo shop in October of 2010, on different days, and they still connected through our guestbook. Make new friends at Inflicting Ink!

Billy said, "Just got my first tattoo ever in my life and on my chest from Marc. Absolutely awesome guy to talk to, as well as being courteous and gentle. All my ink will be done at Inflicting Ink."

And the same day Wilson said, "Billy same exact thing here but i got mine done yesterday also from Marc couldn't agree more man! Two thumbs up!!"
