Thank you for sponsoring the Cardi’s Furniture blood drives on November 6th. Your support helped the Rhode Island Blood Center to ensure a safe & adequate blood supply to our hospitals. A total of 42 pints were collected between all 4 locations. Since one pint can save up to three lives, your blood drive potentially benefited up to 126 people in Rhode Island and beyond!

Also, the Inflicting Ink event at the South County Commons was a huge success. Not only did we have the 2nd highest collection we have ever had at that drive, we really got the message out that you can donate blood if you have a tattoo in the state of Rhode Island.

All blood donations will make a difference in someone’s life. A significant amount of the blood collected at our blood drives will go towards treating children with leukemia, automobile accident victims and patients needing organ transplants. It is because of generous folks like yourself, who host blood drives, that we are able to give hope to patients and their families.

Please extend my thanks to everyone else that helped to make the day a success. It was a pleasure working with you again and I look forward to our next drive. Saturday, February 12th 2011.

Also, I believe Frank and Glenn will be working on a new Providence Journal ad for our 2011 blood drives and will be in touch soon once they have some proofs to show.

Inflicting Ink Traveling Tattoo and Cardi’s Furniture will Team up to Host a Blood Drive for the Rhode Island Blood Center

South Kingstown, RI ~ November 6, 2010 --- Inflicting Ink Traveling Tattoo, a one of a kind mobile tattoo studio based out of Portsmouth, RI, will be teaming up with Cardi’s Furniture to host a blood drive for the Rhode Island Blood Center. Jeffrey Goyette, renowned tattoo artist and owner of Inflicting Ink Tattoo Shop, created the traveling studio.

Inflicting Ink Traveling Tattoo will be set up in the South County Commons parking lot near Cardi’s Furniture from 9:30am until all scheduled tattoos are completed. The Rhode Island Blood Center will be on site from 10am-2pm collecting blood donations. The concept of the day will be “give blood while you wait to get tattooed”. Participants can donate blood and either set up a tattoo appointment later in the day (Jeff will decide the amount of time needed in between to ensure safety for all clients) or schedule an appointment at the shop for a later date. Those who donate blood can either have a free Inflicting Ink t-shirt or receive a $10 off coupon for their next tattoo. Individuals may schedule tattoo appointments with Jeff prior to the event, but all walk-ons are welcome.

All attendees do not have to donate blood and/or receive a tattoo. The event is to simply highlight the fact that these two elements can come together. Inflicting Ink and the Rhode Island Blood Center are looking to create awareness about tattooing and donating blood, with hopes of dispelling the myth; “you cannot give blood for a year if you have a tattoo”. This event will take place rain or shine.

Jeff Goyette Bio

Jeff Goyette was born and raised in Massachusetts where tattooing was illegal, and to this day is only allowed on a per community basis, with each community deciding for themselves whether to allow it or not. Jeff still wanted to be a tattoo artist, and so learned his trade and took it on the road with the tattoo tour where he continued his tattoo education through coursework and tour experience.

In 1993 Jeff opened Inflicting Ink Tattoo Studio in Portsmouth RI as a way to get out of touring and establish some roots in the community. He has been in this location for 17 years. After a few years in the shop however, he wanted to use his traveling experience to be able to bring tattooing to people who might not have the chance to get to a brick-and-mortar shop.

So he built the Inflicting Ink Traveling Tattoo truck, over 73 feet of truck housing a state of the art, sterile, mobile tattoo facility ~ there is nothing else like it on the planet, literally, as the Guiness Book of World Records has named it the largest tattoo facility in the world, but simply has no category to place it in.

The truck travels to fairs, events, concerts, and even does private parties, drawing large crowds and those who do not have access to a local tattoo studio for their body art. Jeff loves when he can give back to a community, and often simply brings the truck to draw in numbers at charity events whenever possible, whether any tattooing will be done or not.

He and his artists model their work on the belief that a customer should always feel that they have received a quality piece of art, that the work is consistent, and that they can be proud of their tattoo as well as where it came from.
